Life

It is a grave act to take a life,

I muse, as I swat the bug

trespassing my space. So

on the public path I avoid

the lowly insect making its precocious

journey across my way,

risking doom from trampling feet.

I contemplate what is this mystery

driving it and me,

which I can extinguish at will,

and get away with murder?
