Community of the Sisters of the Church

Hospitality at Ham

The community at Ham Common includes Sisters and a number of Alongsiders, in addition to our loyal staff and volunteers. We live together – a wide range of ages, cultures, backgrounds – and work together to offer a ministry of hospitality, as well as listening ministries including spiritual direction and retreats.

St. Michael's Convent, Ham Common will close to Guests:

April 8 - May 18
August 2 - Sept 3

Some time after the summer 2016, the house at Ham will close its doors to Guests for the last time as the Sisters prepare to move to "St. Michael's Convent, Gerrards Cross". We hope to receive Guests in our new home, some time in 2017. For more information, please click here.

Until then, our convent at Ham will continue to offer space in which to rest and re-charge the spirit.

Pleasantly situated on Ham Common, close to the River Thames and Richmond Park, we think you will find this an ideal location for retreat and reflection.  We are easy to get to as travel connections from London are good.

Our history is associated with education and social work. Today many who come here for a time of quiet reflection are themselves involved in outreach to others.  We welcome groups and individuals of any faith, for individual Retreats and Quiet Days. We also have space for group and team meetings, and offer opportunities for spiritual accompaniment.

  • space to breathe, to sleep, to rest
